Book Review

Taking care of a child is by no means a part time job. Even the renowned Christian psychologist knew that very well as he is a father of two children. A child requires full attention, 24/7, day and night. Of course, all children do not possess the same character. While a few are calm and follow orders, most children are strong willed. They deliberately disobey orders and test the limits of their parents. This book is for the second category of children.

The strong willed child is portrayed as one who would play with fire just to see if his parents would drag him away from danger. The strong willed child is also one who would present a challenge to their parents. If these parents do not step up to the challenge and prove that they are worthy of obedience from their strong willed child, they would slowly but surely lose respect.

Relatable examples are mentioned through out the book, including some from the author’s house too. The book further gave detailed information on the strong willed child, how to shape that child, the scourge of sibling rivalry, the strong willed adolescent, effectiveness of parental training among others. Newly wedded couples, new parents, singles who intend to one day have children and parents who have been in the game for a long time all stand to benefit from this book. It helps them know what to expect and how to tackle challenges with a calm resolve.
